Relocating to UK or Europe Advice?

My family is considering reloating from the US to either:

UK or Europe. We have small children. We would like to pursue careers in Psychology and Social Services.

What would be the best places/countries to live in either the UK or Europe to work and raise children?

We are looking for good school system with relatively LOW crime. There is no such thing as no crime but there is a such thing as LOW crime in comparison to other countries and cities.

We would also like ';culture'; and cities/countries that are more Liberal and Cultural especially towards other cultures and minorities.

Any advice or recommendations?

Greatly appreciate it!Relocating to UK or Europe Advice?
Being from where i live in UK, i don't know if there is any or many low crime cities that would be affordable.

because it's a relatively rough area, and all the places with lowest crime rates are the middle class estates with deep pocketed families.

To you question about Europe or Britain, if u relocated to europe language is a problem and a friend of mine attended a international school for british in france and he hated it and left school with close to nothing, so for raising children ur best bet is UK.

I'm not sure about culture, but places like ireland and central london are full of culture and london is already full of many minorities so you will be welcomed but house prices in london are probably at the highest than anywhere in britain.

School systems.

Well, we have pretty good education in britain and pretty much everywhere is the same there isn't much variation.

I don't think it should be too hard for you to get a job in that around here either we have great universaties aswell for pursuing, bear in mind though britain is undergoing a recession and jobs are a killer thing to get hold of at the moment.

Forgive me, but most of my information is for England rather than Europe or the UK's counter parts to England like; Wales,Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Hope i've helped you out.Relocating to UK or Europe Advice?
Because of EU laws, people from outside the EU cannot just move to the UK/Europe to live and work. There are certain criteria that have to be met and the first one is obtaining a work permit and to get one of those you will have to possess a skill that is in high demand anywhere over here. So you may need to see if you are eligible before planning on where to live because if, and where, you can get a job, will dictate where you will live.

You can see the rules and regulations for obtaining a work permit here in the UK at this government border agency site...

If you want a comfortable existance in Britain, I'd look into Buckinghamshire, Reading, Brighton, Kent, Cornwall, Derbyshire. Shropshire and some of the smaller towns in rural England.

Every town and village in England has 'culture' in terms of history, churches and ancient buildings / monuments, and England's not a big place so you can drive to most parts of the country within a few hours.
There would be no language problem with UK and Eire.

In UK, the crime in small towns and rural areas are mostly non violent and the crime rate is very low.

You have a much better chance of good schools away from inner cities too.
I hate to say it, but because Europe has become multicultural, the crime rate has risen, so you'd have to find a white only area, like a rural area
