Buying a used car (UK) - advice please!?

I've been looking at buying a used car from a dealer. The seller says it has had one owner from new which has been confirmed by a vehicle status report I took out. However, report says that the last time a VC5 was issued was in 2004, which I am confused about. Does that mean a change of ownership happened in 2004 and if so, wouldn't that mean that the car had had 2 owners i.e. the one before 2004 and the one now? The car is also not taxed at the moment.

Is this unusual/strange/dodgy?Buying a used car (UK) - advice please!?
I suppose there might be another reason why it was issued in 2004, i.e. a change of address of the owner, or a modification to the car. Perhaps you should call the DLA to ask why it was issued then. I don't think it strictly means a change of ownership, but they should be able to advise you better. Go with your instinct, it's usually right.Buying a used car (UK) - advice please!?
