I am thinking of doing a House swap in stockport UK. Anybody know what the rules are??Homeswap in stockport Uk advice please?
Generally as long as you are up to date with your rent %26amp; you are swapping to a property that is suitable sizewise for your family then the swap should be allowed. You can't swap to a 3 bed house if you only need 2 beds %26amp; vice versa.
My parents have a 3 bed house but only need 1 bedroom now my sister %26amp; i don't live there anymore. they tried to swap to a 2 bed bungelow recently but it wasn't allowed. So they're allowed to keep the 3 bed because they don't need a 2 bed. Go figure.Homeswap in stockport Uk advice please?
John there will be something on your councils site about this, the previous owner was correct but the reason her parents were not allowed to swap is very obvious to me.
The bungalow, would be considered only for a person who cant manage the stairs probably due to disability, or its in a sheltered environment which may have their own regulations in addition to the councils, such as residents must be over a certain age. Both landlords council or housing association, have to agree.
I live in Woking Surrey here is there criteria as an example, (see link) just look up what your councils regulations and if both landlords agree and neither party has rent arrears within the last 3 months you may qualify.
