I need some careers advice but don't know where to get it uk only?

I'm a 31 year old mom of two, one of which is at school. I really want to do something with my life. I'd love to be a teacher but not sure how long it would take and if i'm too old. I search the internet for advice but by the end of the day i've got 15 web pages open and i'm still non the wiser. Can anyone point me in the right direction?I need some careers advice but don't know where to get it uk only?
I have a suggestion for you. You don't say what sort of educational, academic or work background you have, so I'm guessing that maybe going back into full time education to earn a BEd might be a bit daunting straight off, especially if you still have a child at home with you.

Why not enquire at your child's school about becoming a teaching assistant?

You could also take a course to back it up. If you found you wanted then to progress into teaching, you will be making an informed choice based on solid experience and will have dipped your toe back into studying for qualifications again.

You are never too old. I remember reading about an 80 year old woman who studied for and got a degree. At 31 you are not even half way through your potential working life, so if it's what you would love to do, do it.I need some careers advice but don't know where to get it uk only?
Just search for specific stuff, like what the requirements are to be a teacher (and what subject you want to teach, if you want to teach a specific subject) and what sort of places offer training for those qualifications...

Here in the U.S. most places require a Masters degree, so if you wanted to be an English teacher, you'd get a Bachelors in English then a Masters in English or a Masters in Teaching/Education or something like that... I'm sure there's something similar in the UK...?
Give job centre plus a call, not only will they try to find you a job, they'll also pay for additional training you may want to better your life.

I.e teaching courses. Or you could do this by taking online in your own time courses via ';learn direct'; and it'll give you your teaching courses in something you'd like to specialise in. This will then help towards an offical teaching qualification, from your own home. So it's easy :)

It's easy and it's quick, you've still got alot of life in you yet love, theres always something out there for you, best of luck x
if you live in wales you can contact careers wales and they can offer advise.

If you want to be a teacher it takes roughly 4 years, a 3 year degree and then one year doing a pgce. Research universities and institutes near you and contact them, see what there policies on mature students.

you are never to old to become a teacher!!
