i am 18 years old and about i sit my A Levels. I hope to become a doctor one day and if i try i will get the grades ther is just one thing. my mother passed away in my last GCSE year and i got mostly Bs. i know that no matter what grades i get in my A level it wont be enough will it? whats your advice?HELP!!!!!! need some advice( UK citizens only)?
Your A level results really do matter. Pick a University you would like to attend and speak to the Admissions Desk, explain your circumstances. They will be able to tell you exactly what you need - different courses have different requirements. They will also be able to be you how you can gain extra credits. Good luck.HELP!!!!!! need some advice( UK citizens only)?
Don't worry too much about the GCSE grades - you have a reason for the B's and anyway, that was 2 years ago. While universities want to see good academic record, they also understand that you grow up a lot between 16 %26amp; 18. An average student at 16 can be a diligent one at 18. So uni's don't put too much weight on GCSE results - though of course they want to see solid results, A's are not essential.

Do your best with the A levels, and have your school/college write an explanation for your GCSE results to send with your UCAS form if you are still worried about them.
You might struggle with only Bs at GCSE. It is fiercely competetive, you will definitely need three As at A level to get into a good university, they should Include either Physics or Chemistry as well as maths.

You also need to have a very good personal statement and maybe some work experience too. You have to send the form off earlier than everyone else for medicine too, ask a teacher or careers advisor for help.
