Any advice on purchase of a pay-as-you-go mobile phone for a 2-week trip to the UK?

I'll be in York first and want to pick up the phone there (leave in less than a week, so can't do online). Most of the rest of the trip will be in Dorset, out in the countryside. I want to minimize cost, but am more concerned about network reliability and coverage.Any advice on purchase of a pay-as-you-go mobile phone for a 2-week trip to the UK?
You can pick up a basic pay-as-you-go mobile phone at any major store for around 拢30 these days.

I have no knowledge about how reliable the network coverage is out in the Dorset countryside but for 拢30 you wouldn't be losing anything to find out.

Most of the big network providers such as Vodaphone, T-mobile, Orange and O2 etc should have a fair amount of coverage in the area.

You can always inquire at the store before you buy or visit the websites of the companies I mentioned above and contact them.Any advice on purchase of a pay-as-you-go mobile phone for a 2-week trip to the UK?
if you ve got an unblocked phone already you can pick up a sim card for most networks for about a fiver(10 usa dollars),but as for reliability all networks can be sketchy in the countryside,Always have 30p on you for the payphone!!
