I started to defrost my fridge the ice departed was caked in thick ice so i started to hack at it! I hacked it a bit to hard and the fridge started hissing what looked like white steam it then carried on hissing for a couple of minutes! Is my fridge broken? Can i fix it?Fridge advice (UK)?
You have damaged the evaporator and the refrigerant (gas), has escaped. It is only repairable by replacing the evaporator, which can only be done by a qualified refrigeration engineer.
The cost of parts, refrigerant and labour will cost more than buying a new fridge.
You will also find that the fridge manufacturer will probably not sell an evaporator for repairs.Fridge advice (UK)?
The gas went out.you may ask for a quote for repairs.Good luck
Hi,sounds has if you have broke one of the elements.I think its for the scrap yard it might be letting off dangerous gas.
Sounds like you puntured a freon line, if so you will need a repair guy but depending on the age of the fridge you may want to replace with another one. Next time use hot water or remove the contents place in a cooler (ice chest) cover with ice, and turn the fridge off for a few hours allow sufficent time for all ice to melt wipe out or use a wet vac to suction all the water out then turn back on. It's a good rule of thumb to keep scrapers and sharp items out of appliances, allow enough time and ice melts if your in a hurry try a hair dryer for a heat source. Again use common sense keep the hairdryer away from the water, good luck
You punched a hole in the evaporator and its really difficult to
fix, but you have a nice hairdo.
no you have damaged the lining
this is an EX fridge
cannot be repaired
You've lost the gas, and repairing it will cost a lot of money. Best thing to do is just buy a new fridge, and next time you want to defrost it, use a steamer, the one for stripping wallpaper, much quicker and you wont damage anything.
Broke your gas line, this is the gas that keeps the fridge cold, hard to fix, cost more money than it's worth (Sorry to say) you need to shop around for a new one or a good used one! Good Luck!
sound like you broke the pipe that feeds gas into the works
time t buy a new one all the gas has escaped
cheaper to buy a new one dont tell the greenies you could be fined
time to buy a new fridge!
