Is he right or wrong? Advice needed UK?

I've just had an 'altercation' with a visitor to my next door neighbours house about parking. Our house has a driveway and an additional paved area in front of the house which is suitable for parking another car, a dropped curb runs the full length of the access.

Our neighbours driveway runs at an angle to ours and their visitor parked outside their gates, hence restricting access to that part of our property. We came back from shopping and wanted to reverse the car in but couldn't get the angle right to get on the paved area because of this vehicle. I went round and asked politely if whoever owned it wouldn't mind moving it but he came out livid as I'd interrupted his lunch saying that he shouldn't have to move his car because its not a 'recognised driveway' he was obstructing, but I thought that if you require access to your property for any reason and it is being obstructed, the person obstructing is breaking the law.

Anyone have any idea where we stand? Is he right or wrong? Advice needed UK?
Parking across a dropped kerb is illegal. A friend of mine had the police move a vehicle from across his drive in and they said if the problem continued to call them again. However if the kerb is not dropped then you have no right of access. Is he right or wrong? Advice needed UK?
if someone obstructs access to your home, then yes they are breaking the law, although i dont fully understand the layout of your drives... im assuming that they have moved the car by now though...
Snodders is right you need a dropped curb for right of way or put a cone or two down
hes only breaking the law if he is stopping you coming out of your drive then it is obstruction, if your not parked in it then he can park in front of your dropped kerb if he wishes but only an idiot would do this and judging by his reaction then.....!
As long as there are drop kerbs then it is an offence to obstruct access. Copy the page from the Highway Code and bang it on their windscreen, or phone the Police, but by the time they arrive he will be gone anyway!.
i wouldn't worry about it. he sounds angry, let him be angry and think about something interesting instead.
is that your only problem in life? if it is ... then arnt you lucky?
