31 weeks pregnant with a cavity i need some advice from UK ladys?

Hi guys, i am 31 weeks pregnant and at 4 weeks i was told i had a cavity as it didnt hurt she said to leave it till the babys born. Went back 3 weeks ago and she said the hole had got bigger ( well duh!) and i now need root canal work. Im not in constant pain but obviously i want it sorted and i am very wary when eating on that side. Dentist is adamament that it needs to wait and i need some advice is this is correct. It seems in the UK dentist are reluctant to do anything, i even asked her 3 weeks ago to pull the tooth and she said no :( feel like im stuck cant have the work done - but yet i need it done.

As its not hurting and i have had the hole since 4 weeks its not going to harm my baby is it? only if it gets infected?

Hi im in the UK no it wont hurt your baby hun honestly i had ea\r infections every other week during my pregnancy and Dr's just couldn't clear it up.

but i had my Wisdom tooth removed at 41 weeks of pregnancy i was given a anesthetic injection which the dentist said is one of the very few things they can do safely for a pregnant lady.

but seeing how your cavity is not causing you any problems id just leave it, as you don't have long to now until your deliver.

So don't worry

Good Luck

Having unhealthy mouth can hurt your baby. I am sure your Doctor have told you that before! I know in the US they do! So, I would suggest your mouth fixed as as possible! You don't want anything bad happen to your baby!
i had filling done when i was 9 weeks, they wont x ray you until after baby born
its the silver ones they don't like doing although they don't have a great deal of research to show its bad for baby, iv had a nightmare with my teeth right through pregnancy! last week i had to have two teeth surgically removed and it needed 28 stitches, they had tried to take one out a month prior but it cracked and they got the one next to it hence the fact they had to cut out! they would normally put you to sleep for this proceedure but couldn't coz of baby... they do need to do another couple of fillings but are waiting til after baby comes.

if it isn't hurting i suggest you hold on, it won't hurt baby and even if it gets an infection the chance of harm to baby is still very low, if it does become painful they might be able to do the work and fill it with temporary filling instead until baby arrives to save you any concern! you don't have long left, good luck with everything xx
